Phil Spiess

Philip Spiess is the band’s co-founder. Starting as a street performer in 2006 and since touring up and down the East Coast, Philip has been a professional in the industry for 15 years. His performances range from metal to bluegrass. Mostly, he has found a home playing roots music with family and friends. Outside of Probably Whiskey, Philip is an accomplished sound engineer with his own company, Sasquatch Sound Solutions. He has worked with Taylor Swift, The Marine Corp Band, Tom Paxton, Jerry Douglas, Sierra Hull, Walt Michael and Company, Dom Flemons, The Stray Birds, Behemoth, Sonata Artica, and Josh Hisle.
Matt Feller

Matt Feller, the other co-founder of Probably Whiskey, has been performing professionally since age 14. Initially he played with the group historically known as Phil Spiess and Friends until the official formation of Probably Whiskey in 2018. He studies jazz guitar at McDaniel College and loves the opportunity to bring that influence into the folk and roots scene. While primarily a guitar player, Matt is the resident fiddler and mandolin player for Probably Whiskey with a classical training on violin and a rich background in Appalachian, Celtic, Scandinavian, and Nova-Scotian fiddle traditions.
Frank Sylvester
Bassist, Comedian, Fun Uncle
Frank is a Virginia native, growing up between Northern VA and the Shenandoah Valley. He is a classically trained musician and multi-instrumentalist, but never strays far from the bass clef. While Frank listens to everything from Motorhead to Mozart, Folk, Bluegrass, and Piedmont Blues music has always held a special place in his heart. He had the pleasure of attending numerous concerts and shows with his father, who is directly responsible for his love of “that old time music.”
